Teaching, Research and Clinical Leadership

Dr Sean Nicklin is a recognised leader in plastic surgery education, research, and clinical service. He is one of a select group of surgeons elected to the Court of Examiners for Plastic Surgery, reflecting the high regard in which he is held by his peers.

Throughout his career, he has made significant contributions to academic and surgical training, including publishing over 20 peer‑reviewed articles, supervising surgical trainees for the Australian Society of Plastic Surgeons, chairing the NSW Plastic Surgery Training Committee, and lecturing at the University of Sydney.

Dr Nicklin leads the Plastic Surgery Department at Prince of Wales Hospital, one of Sydney’s major teaching hospitals. He also holds appointments as a Visiting Medical Officer at the Royal Hospital for Women, Sydney Children’s Hospital, and Sydney Hospital, underscoring his commitment to delivering high‑quality care across a range of patient populations.

Surgery

Dr Sean Nicklin is a Specialist Plastic Surgeon with expertise in skin cancer surgery, body cosmetic and reconstructive procedures, and hand and peripheral nerve surgery.

He performs a range of body cosmetic surgeries, including breast reduction and breast lifts, breast implant revisions, and abdominoplasty. Dr Nicklin also regularly treats skin cancers using excision combined with tailored reconstructive techniques such as flaps and grafts.

With advanced microsurgical skills, he provides meticulous repair of hand trauma, tendon, and nerve injuries, and offers comprehensive peripheral nerve surgery for conditions such as nerve pain and complex amputation injuries.

Dr Nicklin is dedicated to a patient‑centred approach, offering personalised counselling, multiple consultations when needed, and ongoing support throughout preparation, surgery, and recovery.
